— Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event dedicated to Alzheimer’s care, support and research —
CHICAGO, Sept. 5, 2024 — The Alzheimer’s Association announced that Edward Jones will serve as national presenting sponsor with Biogen and Eisai as national sponsors for the 2024 Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, taking place in more than 600 communities across the country this fall.
This year marks the ninth consecutive year that Edward Jones will serve as the national presenting sponsor for Walk. Eisai joined as a national sponsor in 2023. This year marks Biogen’s first year as a national sponsor.
“The Alzheimer’s Association is deeply appreciative of our longstanding support from national presenting sponsor Edward Jones and for the support of Biogen and Eisai as national sponsors for this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” said Donna McCullough, chief operating officer, Alzheimer’s Association. “The invaluable support of our national sponsors enables the Alzheimer’s Association and its volunteers to better reach and help more families affected by this devastating disease with care, support and disease-related research.”
Nearly 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease in the United States. Additionally, more than 11 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
Funds raised during the Walk are used to provide critical care and support resources to individuals and families affected by dementia. In addition, these funds are fueling promising disease-related research across the world. Current research investments by the Alzheimer’s Association total more than $430 million — funding 1,110 projects in 56 countries.
On Walk day, participants honor those affected by Alzheimer’s with the inspiring Promise Garden ceremony, a mission-focused experience that signifies our solidarity in the fight against the disease. The colors of the Promise Garden flowers represent people’s connection to Alzheimer’s — their personal reasons to end the disease.
In 2023, more than 350,000 individuals participated in more than 600 Walks across the country, raising more than $100 million.
